This site and its associated text-messaging number, (572) 218-1782, are operated privately by Ryan Ashline, a volunteer who helps coordinate sweep and shuttle vehicles during a three-day, 60-mile charity walk event.
This is not an official communication channel of the event's organizing charity, and does not speak on its behalf.
What the number is used for
During the event weekend, this number sends and receives short operational messages between event command and a small, known roster of volunteer crew — van assignments, status updates (READY, FULL), and short replies to crew questions. Recipients are volunteers who have signed up for this specific event and provided their number for that purpose.
Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies with event activity — it is heaviest during the three event days and largely quiet the rest of the year.
How crew are signed up
Almost everyone on this number joins in person. At the crew meeting the day before the event, volunteers give their mobile number and are told what the texts are for — vehicle assignments and status updates during the event weekend, heaviest across the three event days, message and data rates may apply, reply HELP for help and STOP at any time to stop them, and that the full terms and privacy policy are at https://3day.ashline.app/sms. Each volunteer says then and there whether they want the messages, and their answer is recorded against their name. Anyone who says no is never texted.

The same wording is printed on the crew roster form volunteers sign, above the line where they write their mobile number. Each answer is recorded against the volunteer's name, and anyone who says no is never texted.
